Autumn Colours

A valley of shrouding mist consumes the waking day,
As Southerly winds conspire to bite the bone.
Purple skies give way to a crisp sunrise,
And morning breaks to the cawing of the crow.
Branches burst with yellow sunbeams of fractured light,
Which collide with falling leaves of encrusted gold.
